What: laughing exercises, yogic breathing, laughter meditation and relaxation
Laughter yoga is the unique idea that we can laugh unconditionally. We don’t need jokes, to be in a good mood or have a sense of humor.
It is called laughter yoga because we combine these laughter exercises with yoga breathing, also known as pranayama, which together increase greatly the amount of oxygen in the body and in the brain which very quickly will increase our energy level and our general health.
We add a quality of childlike playfulness and eye contact and fake laughter can become real contagious laughter…and faking it is fine.
There have been scientific studies done that show that it makes no difference whether laughter is pretend or real. The body can't tell the difference. One gets the very same health benefits from laughing just for the sake of laughing.
Laughter yoga was created by Madan Kataria, a medical doctor from India, in Mumbai in March of 1995. He began with the help of his beautiful wife Madhuri Kataria and with just five people in a public park, started the first laughter club. Since then the movement has grown to over 6000 clubs in over 60 countries.
Laughter clubs are free all over the world.
