What Is Life Coaching?

Coaching is a one-on-one relationship in which clients feel supported and inspired to explore where they are now and where they want to go. For years athletes, actors and politicians have used coaches to help them maximize their skills and abilities. That’s what a coach like me can do for you.

A life coach is more than a friend to share problems with. I’m a sounding board that can help you tap into options and solutions regarding the challenges you face on a daily basis. I support you to see all of your gifts and empower you to believe in yourself in a way you may not have thought possible. I help you build a bridge from where you are now to where you want to be.

With the right coach, you can do more than you would on your own, go further than you think possible and take yourself more seriously. At the same time you can feel a greater sense of happiness and connection. You have an accountability partner who shares your best interest and assists your moving forward. Life coaching is about taking action and making things happen.

Who comes to coaching?

Individuals come to coaching when they have a desire to move forward in their lives and recognize that they need support to make that progress happen. They feel stuck and at the same time curious and inspired to make changes. They need encouragement to look at things from a different perspective and brainstorm with a fresh sounding board.

People who hire coaches are committed to living their life to the fullest. They are interested in personal growth and transformation. They recognize that something is missing and are ready to look inside to find it. They are determined and are willing to increase their self- awareness. They are ready to look at “failure” as an opportunity to grow. In truth, they are taking charge of their life by getting the support they need to be their best.

How are the coaching sessions set up?

The 45-minute coaching sessions are conducted over the phone—or in person if you are local. You and I work out how many times a month we talk depending on what you need.

The initial session can run up to an hour as we lay the groundwork for subsequent sessions. I will ask questions and ask you to develop a vision and long- term goals for our time together.

For each session I ask that you offer a specific topic or issue for us to explore. We will discuss ways in which to support you to make a shift in that area. We will also celebrate all your wins.

My goal by the end of each call is for you to have clarity and focus to move into the next week, and that you feel empowered and supported. I may assign optional homework usually involving some form of inner work—such as self- observation—and/or outer actions. You will leave each session with a greater connection to yourself.

What will coaching give me?

The coaching experience is different for everyone. The benefits you experience will be uniquely yours. At the same time, coaching also triggers some universal results. Clients feel in tune with themselves and in touch with their feelings and needs. They feel better physically and are more connected to themselves and others.
