“It is not the desert island or the stony wilderness that cuts you from the people you love.  It is the wilderness in the mind, the desert wastes in the heart through which one wanders lost and a stranger.  When one is a stranger to oneself then one is estranged from others too.  If one is out of touch with oneself, then one cannot touch others.” –Anne Morrow Lindbergh

The Coaching Process
“Life Coaching might be most easily described as customized self help books and tapes, brought to life.” - Will Craig

What is life coaching?

Coaching is a one on one relationship in which a client feels supported and inspired to explore where they are now and where they want to go.  Coaching is a partnership based on trust, connection and a desire to grow.  How can you make the most of this life? What are your gifts? For years athletes, actors and politicians have used coaches to help them maximize their skills and abilities.  That’s what a coach can do for you. Life Coaches are more than a friend to share problems with. They are the sounding board you are looking for to assist you to tap into options and solutions to the challenges you face on a daily basis. A coach will support you to see all of your gifts and empower you to believe in yourself in a way you may not have thought possible.  A coach helps you build a bridge from where you are now to where you want to be. With a coach, you can do more than you would on your own, go further than you think possible and take yourself more seriously. At the same time you can feel a greater sense of happiness and connection. You have an accountability partner who shares your best interest and assists your moving forward.  Life coaching is about taking action and making things happen.

Who comes to coaching?

Individuals come to coaching when they have a desire to move forward in their lives and recognize that they need support to make it happen.  They are feeling stuck and at the same time curious and inspired to make changes. They need encouragement to look at things from a different perspective, brainstorm and have a fresh sounding board.

People who hire coaches are committed to living their life to the fullest.  They are curious and determined, and are willing to increase their self- awareness. They are ready to look at “failure” as an opportunity to grow. In truth, they are taking charge of their life by getting the support they need to be their best.

How are the coaching sessions set up?

In general coaching is done over the phone for 45 minutes sessions.  The client and I work out how many times a month depending on what the need for the client is. The initial session can run up to an hour as we lay the groundwork for subsequent sessions.  I will ask questions and ask the client to develop a vision and long- term goals for our time together. For each call I ask that the client come with a specific topic or issue that is up for them at that time.  We will explore the topic and
discuss ways in which to support the client to make a shift. We will also celebrate all your wins.

My goal is that at the end of each call you have clarity and focus to move into the next week and you feel empowered and supported. I may assign homework and this will usually be some form of self- observation.  This will always be a choice.

What will coaching give me?

The coaching experience is different for everyone.  Clients gain something that is uniquely theirs and at the same time there is a common thread.  Clients feel in tune with themselves, in touch with their feelings and needs, feel better physically and are more connected to themselves and others.

Coaching offer you a place to explore yourself. A time set-aside just for you. An opportunity to envision your dreams and assist you in moving forward to make those dreams a reality.
